If you haven’t noticed already, my husband is what I’d call a renaissance man. He is good at a wide variety of things, and he is interested in almost everything he comes across. His primary traits are optimism and unbounded enthusiasm. From his 1973 VW Beetle to his Epic Computer Game skills, he walks a fine balance between nerd and hipster. He over-researches everything, he tidys way better than I do, and he appreciates craftsmanship over price, hype, trend, or brand.
Since we found out we were expecting, I’ve watched all of these forces in his personality come together in every aspect of his soon-to-be fatherhood. He’s soaked up every piece of knowledge he can on parenting, discipline, baby care and birth. He’s infatuated with wooden toys and cloth diapers, while also selecting a state-of-the-art carseat that is nothing if not technological gadgetry. He has been the absolute most supportive partner I could ask for, from cleaning, to donut making, painting and renovation, to back rubs and leg stretches.
I love him so much. And I cannot wait to see him become a father to our little man. So when Collective Bias offered to let me spread the word about Irish Springs Signature collection, I knew just what to do with it.
You see, following his trend of brand loyalty, Hubby has used Irish Spring bodywash, almost exclusively for the 12 years I’ve known him. Its nothing fancy, nothing froo froo, no hype or wild claims. Just good smelling, good feeling, bodywash. So naturally, I figured he would love to check out the Signature selection, which leans a bit more to his… eclectic and artisanal tastes (did I mention he shaves with a safety razor and boar’s hair brush?).
But I couldn’t just give it to him. Oh no. After the past 8 months of his hard work and support, he deserves something a bit more than that. So I put together this lovely gift for him. The centerpiece is Irish Spring Signature Body Wash (3-in-1 and Hydrating) & 3-pack of Bar Soap (Hydrating and Exfoliating Scrub). But there are plenty more new-dad goodies. I’ve got a bottle of French Vanilla flavored coffee, along with a mug and several instant coffee/tea items. There are ear plugs and candy, antibacterial hand sanitizer, some spot stain remover, and its all packaged neatly as a gift basket.
All in all, putting together the basket was quick and easy, and I hope that it conveys to my husband my depth of gratitude for his help. I wanted him to have something special and pampering, (like the bath salts, body wash and lotions I’ve made for myself) as well as a couple “tools” to help him survive the first few days of our baby’s life.

This basket could come in any number of configurations depending on what your dad-to-be is into. Maybe more candy, or less coffee, or noseplugs for his first diaper change. If you were making a basket like this one, what would you put in it?
